Black Gold FarmsBlack Gold Farms, Grand Forks, N.D., has acquired Dawson Farms, Delhi, La., which includes all facilities and real estate.

Black Gold Farms has been growing sweet potatoes for the processing industry for four years. This acquisition will allow the company to expand their volume of processing potatoes and provide an entrance into the table stock sweet potato arena, according to a news release.

Black Gold Farms plans to add several sweet potato products to retail and foodservice with boxes, reusable plastic containers and bags, as well as microwavable shrink-wrapped products. Additional consumer packaging capabilities are being developed based on retail and consumer demand.

“The Dawson Farms’ crew has built a great organization and production facility. We are excited to be able to incorporate the additional volume into the Black Gold Farms portfolio,” said Gregg Halverson, president and chief executive officer of Black Gold Farms, in a news release.

Dawson Farms’ Delhi, Louisiana staff will join the Black Gold Farms’ Oak Grove, Louisiana staff immediately. Jason Chandler, director of new crops at Black Gold Farms, will oversee the operations at this location.
