The sale, which is expected to close the fourth quarter of 2014, includes the brands Kocide and ManKocide as well as DuPont's Houston copper fungicide production facility, according to a news release.
Under its wholly owned subsidiary Mitsui AgriScience International USA, Mitsui will establish Certis Cu LLC in Columbia, Md., and CCU will acquire DuPont's copper fungicide business assets.
DuPont will continue to sell Kocide within the Asia Pacific region for up to five years, with Mitsui supplying the product, according to the agreement.
The main active ingredient in the products is copper hydroxide, also known as cupric hydroxide.
Copper is widely used as a fungicide and bactericide. Depending on the formulation, it also may be used in organic production.
