Web-based frost-warning system
Onset Computer Co. of Bourne, Mass., has introduced the HOBO U30 Frost Alarm System, which allows fruit growers to view real-time field conditions from any Web browser.
The system also can set up frost alarms that automatically turn on irrigation pumps, wind machines and other frost-abatement equipment, according to a company news release.
In addition, it can notify growers of equipment problems or when frosts occur via cell phone and e-mail.
Other features include double weatherproof enclosure for harsh conditions, Smart Sensor architecture for plug-and-play connectivity, and an expandable design.
