California registers biological soil fungicide

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has registered Serenade Soil from Davis, Calif.-based AgraQuest Inc.

The fungicide contains the active ingredient Bacillus subtilis strain QST 713, according to a news release.

It targets soilborn pathogens, such as Rhizoctonia, Fusarium, Pythium and Phytophthora, in tomatoes, potatoes and cucurbits.

The fungicide is currently registered in most U.S. states.
