MANA agrees to phase out endosulfan uses

Raleigh, N.C.-based MANA Crop Protection and the Environmental Protection Agency have agreed to a voluntary registration cancellation for endosulfan insecticide.

The product is marketed as Thionex 3EC and Thionex 50W.

Some uses will be canceled by the end of 2010; the cancellation of other uses in three years; and the cancellation of the remaining uses in six years.

The registrant will attempt to include the following crops in the three- or six-year phase out: tomatoes, apples, cantaloupes, pears, cotton, strawberries, potatoes, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, lettuce, sweet corn, cabbage and tobacco.
