Welcome to The Grower’s Citrus Greening
Resource Center

Citrus greening, also known as Huanglongbing or HLB, reduces fruit yields and quality and eventually kills the trees. It is harmless to humans. Greening has spread to all Florida citrus-producing counties and has also been found in Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina.

A 0.1-inch-long insect—the Asian citrus psyllid—spreads the disease. The psyllid has been found in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, California and Hawaii.

Greening has no known cure, so growers currently target the psyllid to reduce disease incidence. But researchers have begun a multi-prong effort to find long-term solutions.
